Have you ever been sitting in a boring conversation or you’re dozing off in class and you find yourself picking at your split ends that you’ve even admitted to being out of control? Well, there are actually ways to get rid of those split ends naturally without having to book that emergency hair appointment that you could have sworn you just did only a month ago.
Some of us are more prone to split ends than others, and the severity is also dependent on how well you take care of those long locks. If you’re a frequent hair straightener or curler, your hair is going to suffer from split ends more than those who just let their hair do its own thing, but some of us don’t have that luxury.
Now, with that being said, let’s look at some of the natural ways to get rid of those obnoxious and unflattering split ends that you can’t stop picking at.
3 Ways to Repair Split Ends
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and Avocado
Take half of a ripe avocado and two tablespoons of EVOO, mix it together and make sure it’s a creamy consistency. Then take that bowl into the shower with you, shampoo your hair really well then apply your mixture. Put on a shower cap and let that mixture sit in your hair for 15 to 30 minutes (NOTE: You may want to buy some chips and guacamole because the smell of your hair will make you want some). After that, hop back in the shower, rinse out your homemade formula thoroughly and then condition.
Yes, we know, coconut oil has been all over the news and tabloids as being this miracle cure for so many things, but in its raw form it’s actually great for split ends. What’s the best part? You don’t even have to apply it all over your head; you can just apply it to the affected tips of your hair and let it sit for about 30 minutes before you wash and rinse.
Yogurt and Papaya
It could be a little weird that we keep telling you to put food in your hair, but this really is a great hair mask even if you’re not trying to get rid of split ends. Take one raw papaya and remove the skin and seeds. Pull out your blended and grind it down to a pulp. Add just one half cup of yogurt, mix it together and apply it to your hair. Let it sit in your hair for about 30 minutes then hop in the shower and give it a really good wash.
If none of these tips seemed to work for you or you just want an easier fix for removing those split ends, book yourself hair appointments regularly. If you’re one of those people who gets that one annual haircut, you may want to change that habit.
