Nothing gives us the feels more than hearing about any parent going above and beyond to take care of their child, and we recently came across a story that we had to share. For a dad who only styles his hair by shaving it all off, one would imagine that styling his daughter’s hair would be somewhat of a daunting task. Well, that was the case for single dad, Greg Wickherst.
After Greg split with his wife and his daughter’s hair started growing long, he realized he couldn’t be the dad who could barely manage a pony tail. So, that’s when he knew he had to become familiar and fluent in the hair styling department – a world once foreign to him.
Learning How to Style Hair
Funny thing is, Greg already works as an admission representative for a college (IntelliTec) that has a cosmetology department so he was more ahead of the game than he realized. After enlisting in the help of the cosmetology program’s supervisor, Greg was hooked up with a cosmetologist and turns out, he’s a natural hair stylist!
Greg spoke with Buzzfeed News saying, “I spend a couple of hours just working on a mannequin and she showed me how to a bun, a French braid, all the different styles. It blew my mind how easy it was to do a bun; I thought it was something super special, like real intricate. I thought ‘Oh my god, that’s so pretty for something that’s so simple.’ I don’t think most guys know that it’s that simple.”
Now, he’s basically become the hair dad of Facebook, to the point where his new found styling fame caught the attention of several mothers who want him to style their daughters’ hair. We’d just like to say good job, Greg! You’re really knocking the whole single dad thing out of the park, and who knows, maybe he can even give tutorials on how to achieve some of his signature looks.
