If you have moved to the Chicago area and realized that your hair is in desperate need of some professional attention? Well, we understand how that can be something you put off because when you find the right hair stylist, you never want to let them go. However, you can’t keep waiting for the holiday to roll around for when you go home and can see your hair stylist again because one haircut per year isn’t something we advise.
So how do you find a good hair stylist that you can trust will take care of your luscious locks? We’re here to help answer that for you.
5 Tips for Finding a Good Chicago Hair Stylist
Word of mouth
If you have any friends who have been in the area longer than you and you love their hair after every time they get it done, ask them what salon they go to. If you do it that way, you’ll even be able to get a legitimate referral for the salon and their stylist. However, if you’re not fond of your friend’s hair, don’t ask them where they get it done.
If you’ve walked past a few of Chicago’s hair salons, but haven’t really looked inside them, give it a gander. You don’t need to go in and walk around, but you should be able to tell whether it’s clean or not and if the overall vibe is something you’re looking for.
Don’t go big right away
So, you think you’ve found a salon, but you want to try it out. Well when you try it out, start small. Don’t go in there for a color, style, cut, and blow dry, but rather go in for something small like a trim and blow dry so you can see if you like the outcome. Now, if they can’t even get a trim right, we suggest you don’t go back.
Give them a call
You can tell a lot about a salon by how the receptionist answers the phone. A good and reliable Chicago hair salon, like ours, will have a well-trained and polite receptionist. If they’re rushing you on the phone or giving you attitude in any way, it’s probably not the right fit for you.
Don’t focus on the price
While you obviously want to be able to afford your haircut, you don’t want to be focusing solely on the price, but more so the experience you want to have. If you go to a high end salon, you’re probably going to be paying a little more, but it’s worth it when you factor in all the amenities while getting the best haircut.
