A good blowout should last you at least a couple of days. Clients are always asking us what they can do at home to make their blow outs last longer and stay fresh. Here are 5 easy ways you can get the most out of your luscious locks!
1. Make sure your stylists give you a deep wash.
Kevin Murphy has a fantastic routine that can be added to your wash experience. Ask your stylist about Maxi Wash, a deep cleaning wash from Kevin Murphy that helps removing dirt, oil and buildup from your scalp and leave you with the cleanest hair you’ve ever felt! You can also use it at home (we recommend only once a week) by applying maxi wash first, then wrapping your hair in a hot towel to activate the magic. Rinse with warm water and then apply your favorite Kevin Murphy Wash & Rinse (hint: use cold water when washing out the rinse. You can leave 50% of the product in your hair for moisture and it won’t weigh your hair down!)
2. Apply dry shampoo before bed
Most people only think to apply dry shampoo in the morning to refresh, but if you apply before bed you can actually work the dry shampoo into your scalp while you sleep. When you wake you will have oil-free, refreshed hair for your day! You can also reapply in the morning to any noticeable oilier spots and you’ll be ready to go. (Remember, if you’re using Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair to shake, shake, shake before application!)
3. Secure your hair in a top knot before bed
Use a scrunchie to put your hair in a loose top knot before bed. This will help you maintain some shape and avoid waking up with bed head. If you’d like, you can also wrap your hair in a silk scarf or sleep on a silk pillowcase to eliminate frizz from the toss and turn when you sleep!
4. Feeling flat? Use a curling iron or round brush to regain some volume.
Use a 2″ curling iron or a round brush and touch up the pieces around your face. This will add volume and give you the right-out-of-the-salon look that will have you turning heads!
5. Feeling bored? Add a braid!
Braids are all the rage this season and they add a little flair to a beautiful blowout. There are a million super easy braids (like the fishtail or crown braid) that you can do at home. If you’re still weary, stop in to the salon and ask a stylist to add a braid. It only takes about 15 minutes and will stay in all day!
